How do you get straight As?!?!?

I’m going to be a freshman in high school next year….

I don’t know if I have bad luck or what, but for 3 consecutive years in junior high, I never got straight As. But here’s the weird part…..

my first year of junior high, I had all As and one 88.

my second year, I had a few Bs here and there….

and in my last year , I got all As and one 89, which is pretty sad because if that 89 had been a 90 I would have gotten recognition for it.

It’s even worse because I’m known to be a hardworker, I strive pretty hard but it seems like I always get bad luck. I don’t think you have to be a genius just to get straight As…..?? I’m pretty nervous because from next year on it actually counts and I’ve got my sights set on wanting to go to college with a scholarship….and you have to be in the top 10% of your school to get one.

Please help….how DO you get straight As??

I have to agree with some of the answers above… study study study. And much of it depends on what high school you go to. Some have little competition, others you must quite literally work yourself to the limit just to match your peers. But remember that most colleges take this into account – they weight your grades in context of your school’s rank.

And you don’t need to be in the top 10% of your school to get a scholarship, or even get into a brand-name university. It’s a great goal to set, but nothing in college admissions is set in stone. I had rather good grades and high SAT scores but didn’t even make it into the top 15% of my class, yet I still got a full scholarship to college.

Keep studying, keep trying to find ways to study, keep improving your studying methods. Find what works with you, which subjects need the most time, then perfect it. When you are struggling to figure out how much of your time to spend studying between subjects rather than struggling to just study, you know you are on the right track. Don’t worry too much your freshman year, grades aren’t counted into your GPA, experiment!

Studying isn’t the only answer to getting an A. You also have to try your hardest on every assignment. If you don’t understand something, ask a teacher to explain it to you during worktime, after or before school. I also am a person that will get straight As with 1 or 2 Bs. Those classes I get Bs in are my toughest classes. I realized that I don’t understand things and I should have asked for help more. Just know that your teachers are there to help you. You can also use your textbook and do practice problems (if it’s math) on chapter reviews for extra help in understanding how something works.

You’ve gotten some very good answers, but you are failing to realize one thing. Success is the product of doing your very best. I fully understand your frustrations; but, as a teacher, let me remind you that “grades” are largely subjective. I had teachers in high school and college that told us right up front, “Nobody makes an ‘A’ in my class,” and nobody did.

Any college or university worth going to doesn’t only look at your GPA. They also consider what teachers, administrators, and personal references have to say about your work ethic and willingness to contribute to your community.

I have always told my children, grandchildren, and students that I will accept a 70 if they have done their best, but I will not accept a 90 if they have not done their best. In the end, grades are just a number. It’s how much you have improved yourself that is the true measure of your education.

GOOD LUCK! Half the battle is attitude, and yours is positive.

Ok so how do you get straight A’s.. well there are 3 factors…

1.STUDY!!!!! Stugying before a test.. dont become a nerd or somthing just study before a test over what you think will be on the test!

2. PAY ATTENTION IN CLASS!!! Dont doodle on your notebook or star e at the cutest guy in class.. TAKE NOTES… LISEN UP TO THE TEACHER! And maybe if you need help ask the teacher.. dont be afraid to ask questions!

3. If you feel like its you And you dont understand it.. get help from a friend a teacher or get an online tutor.. that what i did! Also ask the teacher if she can help you out and give you a tutor or if you can stay after class… so get it?

Hope this helped!

WHERE DO YOU LIVE!! I WANT TO LIVE THERE!! Cause where I got to school a 94 is a A so it is really hard for anyone to get straight A’s, well, just work really hard, study as much as possible, study for evey test, do all of your homework and do your absouloute best, pay attention and take notes in class, ask for help when you need it, get a tutor if you need one, you should be well set , oh yeah do extra credit if possible! GOOD LUCK IN HIGH SCHOOL! I will be a 9th grader too!

One of those Patels
you basicaaly have to study out of your mind and if the reason that you want straight A’s is for college continue what you are already doing and do alot of extracurricular activities. the colleges love that as well as volunteer work this will definitly perk up your college scholarship form. your grades are important too so basically just work a tad bite harder and your there.

You study every night. You double check your answers when taking a test.

if there is tutoring available go to it. Also have a good relationship with your teacher because she/he controls your grades.
