How can I write a good personal/creative essay?

I have to write about how a painting represents to me, my own sense of identity. I write pretty good papers, but I need to be more organized and I take too long to get to points! What are some basic things teachers like that I can do/write about?

Find the most insignificant detail of the painting, one that no one else will notice. Then compare and contrast yourself to that one detail. Your teacher will admire your attention to, you guessed it, detail.

Don’t write anticipating what the teacher will like. Write from your truth. Much more effective. I was taught by a great teacher on how to write an essay. At first I look at the question or in your case the painting and then I start to write presumably random thoughts that come up. It doesn’t have to make sense. I just write until I can write anymore. Then I look at what I wrote and start circling out what could belong to the introduction. Then circle with another color what belongs to point one (1st paragraph), different color for the 2nd paragraph ideas and so forth, lastly circle out ideas for your conclusion. Now you write it out.

depends on your teacher

people are prejudice and never objective

so know what style they like

their politics, social opinions

and cater to that

… although I always found that bitter, angry, sarcastic always makes for great essays
