How can I manage all this work/stress?

I’m a senior in high school, and I have a fully loaded schedule. 2 AP classes, the rest honors, along with 2 courses taken in the afternoon at a local college, I’m feeling stressed already, and it’s not even halfway thru the year. I have an essay for almost each class due next week, big tests next week. I’m stressed out over all this. I’m in the top 10% in my class, and I’m a very smart person. I know I’m not stupid, it’s just hard to handle the workload. I have mid 80’s grades right now, and usually they are all mid to high 90’s. What can I do to manage my time and homework for all the different classes? It’s so hard, I barely have any time to do anything! I feel like even if I get work done, I still haven’t accomplished a single thing!

Go to your school counselor and your parents. Tell them what you told us. You do need to cut back. Your grades tell that. You and your grades will be better for it. You have shown maturity in being able to recognizing it. Good Luck

First I’d just like to say you seem to be doing pretty well. I don’t really think the issue is whether or not your smart or not though…if the workload is more than you can handle then I’d suggest you drop one of the subjects that isnt really as important to you. It may be hard to choose but it’ll probably be better in the long run so you can concentrate on what is really important.

You should also take a small break do something not related to studies AT ALL for a couple of hours…go out…ride a bike, swim, jog.

I suspect that since you are in AP classes you are one of those rare people who actually do something. Probably this will continue to manifest itself in your adult choices–you will always take on too much for a comfort level equaling complacency. The good news is, you are among the few who will achieve in life. Soon you will be out of HS. You will find more people like yourself (and you will have real teachers–not the welfare hustlers who are attracted to HS). You’ll enjoy and learn to cope with your gift far better than you can expect to do in the swamp that is American public education. Just wait. You’ll see!
