How are orphans schooled?

I had imagined that they were in an orphanage and went to a regular school until they were adopted but my friend said they moved around a lot. So how is it really? Are there special schools where orphans go?

We don’t really have orphanages in the US anymore. Kids are placed in foster care or placed in a group home until they can A. get back with their real family B. be placed in a foster home or C. get adopted. They would attend the local school with foster parents, or possibly their old school while in the group/foster home, or like another user stated be in a temporary educational setting while in a group home.

I was actually in an orphanage like place once in my freshman year, and I’m glad I was there for only a week! the teacher was cruel! they have kids from ages 7-11 seperate from 12-17… the 12-17 year-olds had to do work a 3rd grader would be doing…. the 7-11’s only did fun things…. or that’s what my little sis said… it sucks…
