High school homework??

I’m starting high school as a freshman in less than 2 weeks. I’m taking AS English, AS World Studies, Geometry, Spanish 1, Biology and PE. Did anyone else have these classes as a freshman? If so, how much homework did your teachers give you each night? Was it an overload of homework that you didn’t have enough time to finish or you couldn’t do after school activities? All help is appreciated.

Thanks in advace.

I think you’ll do fine and be much further along and ready for college when the time comes than many of your peers. You will have extra homework, so the biggest skill to master quickly is time management. It helps to stay off the computer and cell phone, as those are the biggest time “thieves” out there!

PS Don’t bother with “half-baked” — he’ll be that way all his life!

i really depends on your schools. my middle school was an “academy” type school that had 1-2 hours of homework per night. however, my high school isn’t that great, and last semester i literally had no homework except for an occasional essay. i wouldn’t worry too much- just manage your time correctly and you’ll get it all done. use class periods where not much is going on to catch up on other homework if you can, that’s what saved me when my teachers DID assign things.

I was a freshman last year and I took pre-ap english 1, pre-ap geometry, pre-ap biology, pre-ap world history, buisness ed., and played basketball for the school… so I had classes similar to yours. amount of homework is probably different depending on your teachers but for me there were some nights that I had a bunch of homework and some nights weren’t too bad. for me there wasn’t too many times where I didn’t have ANY homework, but it’s really nothing you can’t handle… just make sure to PAY ATTENTION IN CLASS! that was my biggest mistake, because I wouldn’t pay attention and then I’d get my homework and it would take forever because I had to teach myself. If you don’t understand the homework, then definatly ask the teacher to help you before or after school or get a friend to help you so that you don’t get behind. that screwed me over last year.. if I had payed more attention and stopped talking so much I probably would have gotten more done in class and had less homework, and I wouldn’t have had to teach myself.. haha hope this helps 🙂

I don’t know what AS stands for, but those classes are pretty typical of an accelerated freshman. The workload is manageable, but of course, fine details about how much homework you get depends on the teachers you have.
