With a subject such as math I have found that a tutor is what works best. Is there someone in your class that could help you for a while? Is there a study group after school? Can you form a study group with two or three other serious students and work on it together? Can you or your parents afford to pay a tutor for a while? Can you ask your teacher where you might be able to get some extra help?

Additionally here are a few sites that may be of help. Best of luck with it.

I’m so glad that you said “I know I am smarter than this” because sometimes when a smart kid has trouble they start to think they aren’t smart…and that is so not true! It could be that, as a smart kid, you’re not used to having to study too hard, or it could be that the concepts in this class need to be taught to you in a different way than the way your teacher is doing it.

So you need to ask yourself, “Do I get it in class?” If not, go the tutor route…don’t use another kid though…ask your parents to get you a professional tutor.

If you get it in class but just don’t do well on the tests, then it may be that you need more practice. However, a good tutor can give you practice exercises too.

Good luck!! My son used a tutor to get through honors Trig/Functions last year and it really paid off!

Is there a way you can stay after school to get extra help?

Study techniques…I wouldn’t really know. But if you can, find a site where you can print out worksheets, work them out & ask your teacher if they’re right, if there’s no answer sheet on that site for some reason.

Understand the problems and the methods.Maybe you dont know the basics try to learn them from books or online. Then before doing a problem keep confidence in yourself.Think you can do it and cant go wrong and just do it.Be careful no little mistakes. And practise difficult questions not the same ones try different and do yourself. And understand and do..and be confident..you can be the best

you are in high school and about to go to college, don’t let pride make you not get into agoodd school. either get a tutor, preferably a college student who knows this stuff, or go back down. believe me, the standards for college is getting higher and you need at least a 3.2 to get into a good college. so please, get a tutor fast or go to regular calc. it looks good tha tyou take calculus anyway you do it.

as for study techniques, everyday take your notes and study them, make a note of what you don’t understand and talk to your teacher about it. teachers like when you don’t understand that you talk to them about it. it looks good for them when you do good. you have to study everyday. make flashcards for formulas. it works, i did it.

Make sure you know what the formula and equation is for. Make sure you know what formula the instruction is talking about. Make sure you can write it mathematiclaly and say it verbally. Helps quite a bit. Go ahead in your text book. Make notes. Practise all the time.
