Finding career after graduate school?

I’m taking a doctor’s course and wondering what to do after earning Ph.D. Although I’m fascinated with my study, sometimes I get suspiscious that being academian is attractive career for me.

Almost all of my labmates become postdoctoral fellow, so I don’t know any of whom occupation is disrelate to their previous study.

If you left the academic world (despite of holding a doctorate), what field did you get to?

Only people I know who have done it have either gone into industry (same job as bachelors degrees get) and stew about spending all that time getting a PhD for nothing, or they go back to school, like Law or MBA.

I haven’t done this, but I know people who have. What field you can work in really depends on what you got your PhD in. I know anthropologists, psychiatrists and etc. who work for computer companies and market research companies. PhDs in medicine can find work with medical device and pharmaceutical companies. So you can see, there are options, but it depends on what field you are studying.
