Did school uniforms RUIN my life? ( uniforms good or bad )( pro’s and con’s of school uniforms )?

School uniforms comepletly ruined my life and took away all chances i had to sucess! After uniforms came to my school, I lost all my previous friends, I was unable to draw and paint in art class, I couldn’t go out for sports because i was no better than the next guy, and no one dated because they liked the person, we HAD to date the person who sat on our left in homeroom (hopefully it was the opposite sex!) If you HAVE to express yourself through your cloths like i do, go be friends with Paris Hilton! as far as people saying “Uniforms are for the military, join if you want to wear em.” That was to be the most truest thing i ever heard! I mean, I talked to my broker the other day, he was wearing a wife beater and a miniskirt. I trust him with my money! I hope people try to understand that uniforms aren’t the devil. If kids can’t afford them i’m sure school can get funds through fund raisers federal grants and other things they don’t have to buy a new score board or uni’s for some sport

I have no idea what you are trying to say. Maybe you should have paid more attention in school rather than complaining about wearing the uniform.

Your saying that a type of clothing took away ALL your chances to succeed?! Mister, wake up, take responsibility for your failures and get out there and do what you do. School uniforms lost you your friends? Are you sure it wasen’t your attitude about the school uniforms, maybe they were tired of hearing you complain about it. You couldn’t paint or draw? I’m sure your uniform wasn’t that tight! You were forced to date the person sitting next to you? Did the school administration follow you home? Were they following you on the weekends? You couldn’t go out for sports? Seriously, you had and still have a major insecurity problem. Take a look in the mirror and fix it! I went all the way throught school ina uniform, with a tie I might add, and I didn’t have any of these problems. In fact, everyone I know is succeesful, happy, healthy and we all admit that school uniforms were not that bad and that they were more of a help than anything else. Get over yourself, Al Bundy, get some therapy, be happy.

Oh, come on, people…can’t you see this is merely a (poor) attempt at satirizing the whole issue? I find it impossible to believe that a change in attire is going to devastate your social life, your artistic ability, your athletic ability…if your exterior so utterly controls your interior, you have much greater issues to deal with than school uniforms and academic success.

I’m guessing this is intended to point out the irrational nature of the arguments that uniforms stifle creativity and individuality. There are ways to be creative and establish your identity as an individual that have nothing to do with your clothing; and I agree with those points. I just think that the whole issue of uniforms is being focused on, when it’s only a symptom of a greater problem…if we taught kids to respect each other, the need for uniforms to eliminate social competition would cease to be an issue (and we’d also have fewer problems with hazing, or kids bringing weapons to school, or other social woes that run a lot deeper than the clothing kids wear to class.)

No offense or anything but if uniforms ruined ur lyfe that bad 2 the point that Ur frnds didnt want 2 b around u, u really sud ask ur self was it really the uniform or something else? Cuz trust me< i' ve worn uniform from 6th grade up until junior year in high school, iTs all abt how u look @ it, uniforms dnt limit self expression if u no how 2 wear it right n get away with it. I always made sure whatever I wore with my uniform expressed the personality I had~! @ my skoo, we had choices of what color pants, shirts, skirts, etc we got 2 wear, btwn blk, white, blue, n gray. its all abt how u present urself! by senior year, wen the skool decided that thy were gonna limit our choices 2 this ugly blue shirt with a bright yellow star in the middle, I left. U dnt have 2 deal with that, if u dnt wnt 2 < u can always switch 2 other schools, after all, u mentioned ur frnds didnt wnt anythng 2 do with u, u cud always switch n make new frnds, or mayb i didnt get wat u were trying 2 say, let me no if I misunderstood u in any way or if i offended u, if i offended u, no hard feelings, take crez~!

im a junior in high school and have worn a uniform since the first grade. and i will admit that in elementary and middle school the uniforms were not all that pretty, but everyone did look the same and there was no competiton to see who had the latest clothes. now at my high school, there are different uniforms as to what grade youre in. like my skirt is royal blue and navy. last year it was the sophomore skirt as i was then a soph. now because im a junior its the junior skirt. i love wearing uniforms because to an extent everyone looks the same and you dont have to worry about having the lastest thing, becasue no one knows. its better this way i think. easier in the moring too because you dont really have to think you just put it on.

Now what? I hated uniforms for the two years of my life that I had to wear them (really, it was just a SUPER strict dress code…) but I put up with it. Same way that I did with my scoliosis back brace, no complaining. What made it worse was that I had to wear the uniform and a back brace 23-7 (i got out of it for an hour a day) and the cute versions of the uniform didn’t fit while I was wearing the brace.

Are you on crack or something? What the hell are you talking about you HAD to date the person that sat to the left of you in homeroom and hopefully they were the opposite sex. I don’t believe a word you just said. Besides who would the person be dating if the were the last person on the left, the wall?

I like young girls in jeans. It makes them look more home town like and it generally does not appear to be they try too much but if you are trying to get this men attention, this might not exactly be what you want

I really do enjoy using long skirts occasionally. They may be actually convenient than Denims and also much less hot to wear.

This is one of the most contradictory questions I have ever heard. I truly hope this is a joke question. Otherwise, I completely agree with the first poster… you should have paid more attention to school.
