Canadian vs. American Courses?

Hi!

I just moved from Toronto to Seattle, and recently registered at my new school.

I’m going to be a sophmore this year and have no idea what honors/AP courses are about. And my counselor didn’t exactly help, other than stating the obvious.

In Canada I was taking all Academic courses, and had straight A’s. I’m not too worried about tons of homework, but more of: if the course material will be over my head, and I can’t handle it.

So basically, for anyone who has been in this position, I’m wondering about the differences in difficulty of American (honors/AP) classes, compared to my old Canadian (academic) classes.

Any help would be appreciated,

Thanks,

Andie

Regular classes they go at a slower pace, do easier work, have less homework, less tests, and don’t get very deep into the subject. They just teach you what you need to know. Honors and Ap go much faster and are much harder. Honors is easier than AP. Ap gives you college credit if you a score a 3 or higher in the test they give you at the end of the year. Takes honors and Ap. They overload though. Like if your good in English but not good in math take AP english and regular math. That way you don’t have too much work.
