Can Kindergartener be late to school in Ca for religious study?

I know others who have kept their Kindergartener out of school one day a week for their bible class. My daughter is afternoon so I was going to have her arrive 45min -1 hour late. Can I do this? Well..I know others have…but just wondering if she can be penalized for being late to school once a week. We live in California and my daughter is 5. Is Kindergarten required in Ca. Thanks!

California requires students to be enrolled in school if they will be 6 by December 2 of the current school year. That means Kindergarten is not technically required. You can keep your child home and then enroll her in first grade next year. If you do that, you will need to homeschool for kindergarten so that she has the skills she needs for first grade. Your other option is to let the school know why she will be out and then request they move your daughter to the morning class so she will not miss anything. You can ask the school questions, but the reality is they don’t always give you the correct answers. They want your child in school because they will not receive funding for the time she is absent. There are many web sites where you can review California law for yourself. It’s a boring bunch of information to read, but it’s worth it. www.hsc.org is a california homeschool web site. Even if you don’t homeschool, these websites generally provide great information regarding educational laws. www.hslda.org is another great site for this type of information. Hope this helps.

To the best of my knowledge, a child cannot be punished for attendance at school if it has something to do with Religion. The same as someone cannot be discriminated towards at work. Especially since they took prayer and religion out of school, it seems they would be more leniant towards students practicing outside religious activities.

Ask your child’s principal. If they have a problem with it, take it to the State.

Kindergarten isn’t required. i comprehend this is okay for infants to omit college in specific circumstances for non secular reasons, such as Yom Kippur, yet to reach late sometime a week? perhaps this is in simple terms me, whether it sounds like taking advantage of the coverage. There are different infants interior the class, and their studying should not be interrupted except truthfully mandatory. And, i ask your self whether your daughter could experience embarrassed coming in late? this is invaluable to to think of approximately homestead training this year extremely.

I would think Kindergarten is more important then bible study. I highly doubt that any school will find being late once a week acceptable behavior

I think it’s irresponsible parenting to have your child miss out on actual education so they can study fairy tales. Religion is an option in this world and should be drilled into your children on your own time. You are also setting your child up to be patronised by the group of children who are there for the whole day.
