As far as I know (UK) Junior Maths Challenge is yrs 7 and 8, Intermediate is yrs 9, 10, 11 and Senior is 6th form. So yes, in theory they could. I’m not sure how it works if they are older than normal for their year but I’m fairly sure it is done merely on academic year not age.
