Will a misdemeanor for unlawful assembly prevent me from teaching preschool?

I have to pass a fingerprint test to get my permit and Im scared to do it. Do I need to have the misdemeanor expunged from my record before I can pass?

Find a link to your states day care regulations. It will tell you if misdemeanors are ok or not. You should tell them at the interview or before the screen, be remorseful b/c it WILL come up on the check. They may be able to overlook misdemeanors however if regs say they can’t then they can’t no matter how honest you are.

It shouldn’t be a problem. It will likely show on the report your employers receive. Be proactive – tell them ahead of time it will be on there and explain what happened in as positive a light as possible. Mention what you’ve learned from the experience, how you’ve grown/changed, etc.

The best thing to do is be honest. Employers will not hire you if you lie but if you’re honest you have a good shot at getting the job.

Misdemeanor charge OK…felony charge no. If it is just a misdemeanor it should not come up.
