Contact the local.. usually state board that provides the licensing for the preschool.

Additionally I would speak to the teacher’s supervisor which could be the preschool director or principal.

Who told you of the incident?

Have you discussed the incident with the teacher? And if you have and that didn’t go well, did you discuss it with the administrator of the preschool?

The teacher must be relatively strong or your son must be very light (and you buy really strong clothes) if he was literally held in the air by the teacher.

Talk to the administrator of the preschool with the teacher present before you go any further with this issue. I’m not saying that you will definately get the whole truth but you should take the time to get an explanation.

If you get no satisfaction after that meeting you can look into taking it further.

I’m one of those people who do not believe in medicating children until all other alternatives have been exhausted. If your son truly has a hyperactive condition, his physician would be the one to determine that, not his preschool teacher.

f your son is totally innocent, I would write the U.S Department of Education and the Better Business Bureau in my area. I sure hope that you are right and not wrongfully judging this teacher for trying to get control of his/her class. I was caregiver to a niece that was an angel at home, she was an only child at the time. Well, her teacher called me because she could not reach my nieces mom. So, I told the teacher that I was coming, but not to allow my niece to know. I told the teacher that I would be outside peeking in the window. Low and behold my little niece acting in a way that I had never seen before. She was overly excited to be with the other children and did not know when enough was enough. I think even the kids were tired. I took her home and told her mom of my findings and now the entire family is working with her to calm her down when around other children and she is being trained to work well with her friends and classmates. Now, she gets a good citizenship award and we are all happy and the teacher still has her job

I think you should call a meeting with the director and the teacher that picked your son up by his shirt. She shouldn’t tell you that he is hyper, is she an MD? Bring the incident out in the meeting and the school/daycare should do an investigation. Or have the investigation done first and when they gather the facts, call a meeting. You don’t have any proof that she did it, only heresay.

File a complaint with the school director or principal. This should be done in the director’s office with the door closed. Tell him/her all the facts that you know, and your concerns. If you get no resolution then by all means find another preschool for your son.

Maybe file a complaint with the child’s mother. 🙂

What I mean is this: too often in today’s times parents blame everyone for the child’s problems except themselves. Teachers are by and large good with kids, and very rarely act inappropriately. If the teacher picked your son up by the back of the shirt, it was probably for a good reason: he was hitting another child, he was running and wouldn’t stop, etc etc…

How about instead of filing a complaint, you work on teaching your child self-control? Then maybe you’ll never have to worry about another teacher being mad at your son. If you ignore your child’s behavior, and try to get the teacher in trouble you will be following this pattern all the way until he graduates high school.
