Well you can get pictures off of any website. One site inparticular that is geared towards children is: http://www.enchantedlearning.com/DictionaryA.html. this site is like a virtual picture dictionary. You can print the pictures and make your a picture dictionary.
Or you can just search theinternet for the pictures that you may want to include in the dictionary and print and combine them into a dictionary.

There are many sites that have pictures to use. What types of pictures were you looking for?? Real pictures?? Drawn pictures?? There is a great program called board-maker and I use it daily in my classroom. It is a bit pricey but I know they were offering a free trial just a little while ago. They have pictures of anything that you can think of and they are illustrated very nicely. These work great for children with autism…I have 3 and 4 year old children who have autism and it helps them to make choices, follow a schedule, transition to new activities/places, etc.

the best places to get pictures from is from parents and friends who have been to different places….and children of this age love to see their “places” in a book (even if its just their kitchen, bathroom, car, etc) and the more “real” the pictures the better (this comment came from a speech/language specialist as children this age more readily understand real objects as compared to drawings, or cartoons….. also be sure to use photos of the school and its different places too
Idea——Try to get a local business to donate either(or both) throw away cameras and developing so that all of the families in your program can help with the book!!!! I’ve had some success with this kind of idea but we used the pictures for other types of books.

If you’re not going to publish this, you can get a picture of almost anything from the online clipart from Microsoft Word. Go to clipart, and then click on “Clips online” and search the website. Thousands and thousands of pictures…

http://images.google.com
Type in what you want to find and it will bring up a LOT of pictures.
Copy and paste them into a Word Document and you got it…
