You have nothing to worry about unless you’re the type of person who types in all caps… Oh… Ummm….

I’m just kidding. Though seriously, those all caps are annoying.

I’m assuming you’re either coming from home schooling, or you are dyslexic. If you are dyslexic and are currently in middle school, I’d say things get better. If you are going to encounter the stereotypical American high school things that you see in the movies, it’s most likely you’ll see them in middle school and not high school.

Let’s see, the cafeteria food isn’t a bunch of slop. I’ve been here two years and no one has gotten shot, killed, no bomb threats, and no fires, which are quite common in a lot of intercity middle schools. People aren’t going to steal your lunch money, no one will shove your head in a toilet which show up in a lot of 80s movies. However, I’d be fair to say there’s a lot of drug use in atleast our school. But no one is going to pressure you to use drugs.

High school really isn’t crime ridden unless you go to a projects high school. And people will generally be nice if you’re not an *** yourself.

As a reply to Earl’s comments, a school in a major city doesn’t at all mean that it’s unsafe. It’s much more a specific area, and will change dramatically based on which city. LA schools (excluding south-central and east LA) are usually quite decent, and same with many New York schools in upper class areas, and Boston schools are pretty good. Certain cities that would have worse schools would be Detroit, DC, or New Orleans. As un-PC as it sounds, generally the worst schools are primarily Black schools surrounded by projects. I’m assuming you’re middle/upper class White (you’re online, and mostly Whites are the ones who decide to type in all caps), meaning you probably don’t live in the projects where most things that Earl addressed exist.

hey kiddo, i graduated in 85 and high school was not bad for me at the time. i do know that times change, people change. movies are movies, and that’s all they are. don’t be afraid, it’s just something new for you. yeah the high school is a scary looking place, from the outside. if you have any concerns once you get here, find out who your counsler is, and to talk them about it. if you have any other questions, we are here to help you. oh and if you get the chance, i think you can find all your classes before school starts up again. your locker things like that. i have a question for you. do you pick up your class schedule or is it sent through snail mail? that’s why i said you can find all of your rooms before school starts.

It’s not as awful as the movies always make it out to seem. It’s still not the best, I’ll admit that, but it could be so much worse. Alot of students are very immature and annoying and teachers repeat themselves ALL the time.

You’ll survive. Just worry about school first and eventually you’ll make new friends and it won’t be so scary.

Depends on where you are at. Urban or rural.

One girl here told a real horror story today.

A lot of Urban schools have metal dectors, no lockers allowed, everyone back packs it.

Some schools are nice and well equipped, clean and reasonable safe.

A lot depends on the area, if you’re talking ANY major city, it is probably going to be iffy at best.

well, first of all, it depends if you are going to a public or private high school…Private high schools are AWESOME!…Public high schools SUCK, because you aren’t educated very well, so you FAIL in college…At my high school, yes, it’s HORRIBLE…The teachers don’t help ANY of us kids, so we are on our own, and even the kids who are geniuses, are failing…and a lot of people are doing drugs, and we have had 4 break ins, and they have stolen a BUNCH of stuff…IT’s horrible!…sorry to make it sound so bad…I wish I were at a different school.

It’s the best years of your life. Yes, it has it’s ups and downs, but you got to learn to deal with this, and that is why it is soooooo important to go to public high school, to learn to get along with all sorts of people. It’s not just academics, it’s much more than that. Socialization of teenagers is critical for them to succeed later in life. Without it they are in for a BIG surprise after they get out of HS. And it’s a BAD surprise.

Um properly for me my intense college occupation has been defined by skill of the activities I quite have been in touch with. i’m in marching band (shade shield), indoor shield and theatre. I actually ought to not image intense college without them. additionally my buddies have made intense college dazzling for me to boot yet what maximum persons think of of while they think of of highschool is… preparing for college events eating employing being greater in charge having greater freedom getting older boyfriends/girlfriends experimenting sexually soccer video games …. you’re able to make it dazzling. it in simple terms does not happen once you walk interior the doorways.

No… I don’t think so.

Everyone’s more mature. Plus you don’t even know 90% of the people at the school.

You don’t have the same classes with the same people either so…
