“My country, right or wrong” — Is this a good motto?

Please put yourself into one of these three categories (fellow Americans only), and explain why you chose it:

1. I love this country and will do what it takes to defend what it stands for.

2. I love this country and will do what it takes to restore what it once stood for.

3. I don’t give a rip about this country.

I love this country and will do what it takes to restore what it once stood for. Man I hate having to go into this category but with the lack of morals and the indifference towards one another I’m not sure if people even know how great America once was. I mean, kids are growing up with a lack of respect or hell I will even say fear (anyone over the age of 30 knows the fear I am talking about) We were told to do something and we did no questions asked. We sat down to dinner every night as a family at the dinner table. We played outside in forts and our bikes. Kids now a days have no idea what it is like to be kids. I try to tell my neice or nephew to go outside and play and they ask with what. Adults have forgotten how to be adults and think that they have to be their kids best friend. Lack of responsibility. You stuff your face with Big Macs everyday and your butt gets fat but it isnt your fault its McDonalds fault for making the Big Macs. You smoke cigarettes ( and yes I am a smoker) and you get lung cancer what do you do sue the cigarette companies, Lets get real people. I personally think what this country needs is another Great Depression. Get rid of all the materialistic bull crap and get back to the family roots. We claim to be the biggest badest country in the world and we want everyone to follow in our foot steps. Do you wonder why other countries do not want to. We don’t set a good example,. We help other countries before helping our own. New Orleans is still in shambles to this day with no help in site. But other towns in Mississippi and Alabama because they are smaller and not well known are never mentioned and they were just as devestated. Kansas lost a whole town to a tornado. I drove through it the other day. They have a military tent as a hospital. What are we doing to help them rebuild? Our roadways are collapsing. Where is the money that they take everytime we fill our gas tanks? 18% federal tax on gasoline is supposed to go to repairing our roads. There is no money in the budget they are telling us. I could go on and on but I will stop here. I do love this Country. I actually work everyday with the military and support our nation. I guess that is why it hurts so bad to see the path that we are going down,

To answer the first question, no. This is akin to acting like the battered spouse in an abusive relationship. No matter how many times he comes home and beats her, he’s still a good man. No matter how many times he goes to jail it was a frame job, a conspiracy theory. Besides, he’s not abusive all the time; there are plenty of times when he really is a good caring husband. Doesn’t cut it for me…

My answer to part 2 is #2. I say that if you love something or someone, then you are particularly concerned when that something or someone turns out to be broken or sick. When your child has a fever, you don’t waste time bragging to everyone that he’s an honor student, you take him to the doctor. And you don’t accuse the doctor of hating your child when he points out that he has an infection. You thank the doctor, you get the prescription, and you work hard to heal your child.

Our founding fathers said that the US flag should not be raised on foreign soil for profit or land, but for the good of the people of the world.

We’ve failed to do that by having more troops in oil-rich Iraq then we do in Afghanistan, where the real terrorists are. Bush Sr. didn’t fail to uphold American standards when he rushed in troops to save Kuwait. The problem is the first order the troops were give was secure the oil fields.

Nixon wasted countless American lives by defending Vietnam and ultimately failing in a mission that had no strategy to begin with.

Some presidents can hold up American ideals, and others fail horribly at this job.

#2…the secrecy, domestic spying, and the potential for misuse of the patriot act is alarming.

The presidents order regarding record keeping, and the vice president refusing to comply and seeking to abolish the responsible office for maintaining those records, claiming executive privilege when convenient, and claiming not to be in the executive branch when convenient, is surreal.

The attorney general refusing to answer to congress, claiming to be unable (honestly not just to recall) explain the termination of select attorneys, and the apparent inconsistency in his own statements, they can’t even maintain the guise of propriety at the level of attorney general.

And last but not least the Presidents appearent contempt for the american people.

4. This country needs unbiased education about the hopes and desires of the rest of the world and to realise that it was not the inventor, nor is it the only possessor of, democracy. In this task I pledge myself.

It means we need to push out the illegals, and start charging some liberals with treason.
