Your prospective meployer will need time to check yuor references and speak with other parties ie. recruitment agency, other partners/directors to assess your suitability for the role, so give them time to do that. But calling to see how your application is going shows committment and initiative.

i would say a week .. i have had many jobs take a week before they actually get to call you back due to other interviews and such that are being conducted
