I would begin looking at your assessment tools. These should provide you with what your looking for in each child. As to “WHY” the activities you should have learned that in a Theory class or training. I personally like to use the APES. If you are wanting to know specific things IE walking up and down stairs using both feet and its impact on the left and right side brain development then I would look at each specific area of development and research them individually. This knowledge will give you a better understanding as to why all development all areas should be given appropriate activities to develop. If I can help you clairfy more please feel free to ask. Have alphabet clearly posted with bright colors. Places where they hang coats and jackets posted with names.

Bathroom manners. Always wash hands is very important.

Learn to set table for breakfast and lunch and take turns doing so. Al at snack time. Keep list posted for this, birthdays and when it’s their turn to bring treats for the day and box of Kleenex. However, lists of birthdays and treat day will most likely be posted on calendar for parents to take home, while another stays at Day Care.

Reading time could be subject of the day. Could draw pictures of subject if schedule permits. Depending on size of room, a nice comfy soft chair would be nice if Day Care permits.

Don’t hesitate to visit a few Day Care’s. Set an appointment with Director and sit and observe.

Most Day Care’s will require you to take a course in regards to Day Cares. This will better prepare you for working in Day Care setting.
