Duke of Edinburgh – help in Nursery?

for my D of E award i wanted to help out in a

nursery,(preschool)

the only problem is would i have to be police checked,

i think you don’t have to be unless you are

alone with the children, is this correct? i’m 14, (in uk)

I’m in Australia and when I was 15 and doing my D of E, I did helped out at a preschool. I didn’t get any police checks and they did leave me on my own with the children. I think it relates more to permanent staff as there would be many young people who do work experience or D of E work at preschools and it would be a hassle for every person to have to be police checked for a couple of days work.
