Where does one go to learn how to do hand modeling?
Favorite Answer
The most common body parts that are used in print and TV ads are the hands, feet, legs, torso, and facial features. So even if your nose could give Gonzo a run for his money, your lips might be perfect for a Blistex ad.
Walking into an agency, putting your hands in a potential agent’s face and saying, “Look at these magnificent hands, they’re flawless!” is not going to work. Body part modeling works in a much subtler manner. And the likelihood of a scout stopping you in the mall to examine your striking toes is about nil.
What you need to do is submit photographs of whichever body part you think has potential. The photographs should be clear and you need to submit at least three different pictures of that body part (preferably from different angles). Your best bet would be to take professional photos as they will have the proper lighting needed for careful examination.
The photographs can be color or black and white, and they can come in sizes 4×6 or 5×7. 8x10s are acceptable, but anything bigger than that is not. And although this goes without saying, I will remind you that the photographs must be clear. The last thing you want is to hinder your million-dollar feet from their just dues.
Although there are plenty of agencies that deal with body part modeling, if you think you have what it takes to become a pro in the industry. This is the company that got me started, they taught me, photographed me, and were without a doubt my favorite agency.
