What is the main difference between having a GED and a diploma?

Right now I’m hopeschooled but I should be a senior and I’m only half way through my sophomore year (I’m 17). I don’t want to be in school until I’m 19 or 20 so I’m probably going to get my GED. I know the info about it, I’ve read about the requirements, etc. I’m just curious what the big difference is between a GED and a diploma. Is having a GED alot worse then having a diploma or something? Does having a GED and not a diploma make it harder to go to college or get a job? Any input would be appreciated.

The big difference is that with a Hi School Diploma you actually attended on campus school for 4 years – The GED, when you pass it says you have “completed the ‘equivalent’ of a Hi School Ed. – Same thing happened to me and with my GED under my arm. I was admitted to Wisconsin University and The university of the State of California, where I finally ended up going !

Not too much of a difference, but a high school diploma is a bit better.

Don’t worry too much though,. If you need a GED and seems to be the best plan go for it!

There’s not really much difference. It’s just gives you more brownie points for the people who look at your application.

Diploma vs. GED

Of course diploma wins out but if you are sincere and have people skills then I say go for it. Also, you don’t want to be in school that long so why waste your time if it’s something you don’t want?
