The dictionary defines “avenue” as a wide street or main thoroughfare. It defines “street” as a public thoroughfare, usually paved, in a village, town, or city. So, the difference is that an avenue is likely to be wider and more of a main thoroughfare than a street.

Or i could explane it extra useful like this – street; stressful music for use of automobiles: an prolonged surfaced direction wide sufficient for automobiles to be pushed on it (many times used in placenames) highway; public street on the city: a public street, enormously in a city or city, many times coated with homes lane; narrow highway: a narrow direction, street or highway, many times in older city factors or interior the geographical area, many times enclosed via partitions or hedges highway; delivery extensive highway: a brilliant highway or street in a city Encarta ® worldwide English Dictionary © & (P) 1998-2004 Microsoft organisation. I believe Avenue is French, and Street is Saxon.
