you wish you knew!

What is middle school like? Is it fun?

Tell me what to expect. The ups, downs, lockers, and cliques (YIKES). Please only answer if you just left middle school, are still in middle school, or are in high school. Friends tell me that it has changed from what their parents told them, meaning that you need to have recent info.

I’m 20 years old. You probably wanted somebody a little younger than me. Im young enough to remember Junior High though…and one of the most important things that I can say to you is that my junior high years were the best years of my life. Better than high school even. cherish the moments (Even the bad ones)

Some things to remember? Always be yourself! You will make better friends by being yourself, rather than trying to be somebody else. If you like a shirt – wear it. If you dont like a certian pair of ‘really hot trendy’ shoes – dont wear them. Be yourself. If your uncomfortable doing something – dont do it. Those rules arent just for Junior High – keep them with you the rest of your life.

Do all your homework the day you get it. I had to go to summer school in 7th grade becuase I sourta just never did my work. Not fun!! (I now have a 3.9 GPA – highest is 4.0 i believe..so i guess i taught myself a lesson) ..

If you do something/say something stupid and you’re really embarased – dont worry. Life goes on. 3 months from today nobody will remember if you answered a question wrong. a year from today nobody will remember a bad haircut. and when you’re in college – weather or not you were the most popular kid in junior high (high school even) wont mean a damn thing.

Expect rude kids. Espically girls. Girls can be brutal!! They call names, they’re intimidating, they’re like wild animals sometimes lol. Ignore it, and dont be one. Remember that its SO important to be kind to people, and though revenge feels really good, its never good to fight fire with fire. When you run into an inconsiderate kid – just remember that you’re better than him/her and you’re not going to stoop down to that level!

I went to one junior high (6th and 7th grade) where i never heard anything about sex or drugs. I switched schools in the beginning of 8th grade and just about every kid around me had already had sex and had done/thought about doing/sold/seen every drug in the book. They say that its hard to stay away from the stuff – i had no problem staying away. Drugs will screw up your life.

I met a boy in 8th grade. He asked me out. We dated and he smoked a lot of pot. I tried it – didnt care for it too much…and im glad. we dated all through highschool. My senior year of highshool I had to break up with him (it was very hard for me to do becuase we had been together so long – and i loved him.) but he had moved onto different drugs..the pot wasnt enough for him anymore. We were going to get married.

He doesnt do drugs anymore and we’re best friends now, but i learned from HIS mistakes..”Hugs not drugs”.. lol

A few things, people tend to pick other people apart. Make sure your clothes are clean (doesnt matter what brand they are or if your shirt is in style. Just make sure they’re clean) and that you’re clean…and wear d-oderant. If you can, BRING some d-oderant to school with you ((You never know when it’ll wear off))…nobody likes to sit next to a kid with bad BO.

AND REMEMBER have frun! Have sleep overs with your friends, stay up all night on fridays, Cry laughing at funny movies and then scare your socks off with scarie movies. Keep your close friends close. Be kind, be honest, be yourself and you’ll be fine.

In my opinion high school is way better than middle school. I guess it’s because I had a really bad teacher at my last year in middle school. My grade average went from a B to an A when I got into high school. I don’t know how but the teachers give more fair and better marks. You have loads more freedom in high school, you’re allowed to go outside or sit in the halls at lunch instead of just staying in one place. Also, you get different classes and teachers for every subject. That way you won’t get bored of your teacher and you’ll meet more friends. I’m going to be a sophomore and I didn’t dissect animals in grade 9, I don’t think I’m going to dissect animals this year either.

It really depends on which middle school you’re going to, but middle school isn’t as hard as everyone says it is. Homework can be tough sometimes but it will get easier if you work hard. Lockers are really useful for all of your stuff and it’s really convenient to be able to pick up and drop off stuff to and from your locker in between classes. Just don’t forget your locker combination!

Cliques aren’t that bad. Eventually you’ll learn to avoid the bad cliques and make new friends. If your school is really big, it will be easier to make new friends than if your school is small.

Middle school is alittle more “drama-filled” than high school because a lot of the middle-school kids act like they think high school kids do. There are cliques but they’re not as noticeable. Important tip is, make most of your friends in your 2-3 years of middle school because it’s harder to make friends in high school. Have your small group of close friends plus many other friends from different groups… be well connected. I am a junior in high school. Oh by the way, it is fun if you make it fun!

ok, It is fun. Exept for the home work. Expect to make new friends, and get made fun of, unless of coarse you are part of the “n crowd” then… watch your back, becasue friends are always talking behind it. The ups… you get ama]zing opportunities, the downs, to much work, and some of the teachers could be meaner than others. Lockers, decorate it in a way that describes you, because you are going to be stuck with it for the whole school year, and you don’t really get a lot of time to take everything out, snd re-decorate. Chliques, just try not to get caught up in the middle of one. I am in my second year of middle school.

cliques aren’t that bad in middle school. just stay loyal to your friends from elementary school, while trying to make new friends and you’ll be fine. don’t try to become “cool” or “popular” cuz that’s what usually causes fights with your old friends and stuff like that. just be yourself and everything will fall in place. trust me! lockers are nbd. many people are like obsessed with decorating them and getting those locker shelves. but you don’t need them. and it’s especially a head ache at the end of the year when you have to take all that stuff out.

oh and middle school isn’t as bad as they make it in all those TV shows and movies. just focus on your school work. and have fun! good luck =]

Middle school was great fun. I had very good teachers who knew the students, being it was only 100-200 students per graduating class. So stress-free and care-free, enjoy middle-school and brace for the worst in my opinion: high school.
