Does anyone know of a list of books containing many GRE words?

Everyone says “read advanced material to increase your GRE vocab.” In the modern age, with most books available in electronic form, why hasn’t someone wrote a program (or done it by hand) to figure out what books contain the most GRE words (as provided by Kaplan). It would seem as though this wouldn’t be TOO difficult for someone with the resources, know how and a budget (test prep companies like kaplan).

I used Barron’s GRE guide when I studied for it. They have a 5,000 word master list of words frequently used on GREs from the past 10 years.

My advice though is to start early with your vocab review because while there is some overlap . . . it’s still 5,000 words. They do have a hotlist though of 500 of the 5,000 that have the highest percentages of being on the exam.

I had to go find out what a GRE word was. And then I had to laugh. If I got it right (and I think I did) GRE words are the same words I fell in love with in ninth grade when I purchased my first copy of Roget’s Thesaurus. They are $20 words (ah inflation) and legalese. Philosophers, theologians, and epicureans love these words. They are words that obscure and allude and infuse layers of meaning like the seven veils until you are breathlessly enveloped in the seduction on the page before you. I will grant their passion for their subject almost makes them holy fools but I swear there is more sensuality in theology and philosophy than in pornography.
