When a test is graded, the scores usually end up on what’s called a bell curve, where a few people get high scores, the majority get medium scores, and a few get low scores. Sometimes when not enough people get high scores and a teacher wants to be nice and raise grades, they will “curve” the test. This means that they move the person with the highest score’s grade percentage to a higher percentage (usually 100%) and move everyone else up by exactly the same amount it took to move the highest person to that position.

Curving A Test

Curving a test grade is just adding extra points to the test. This will increase high grades slightly and low grades quite a lot. As a student I always cheered for curved test grades.
