There are no benefits. In fact, schools shouldn’t be allowed to have field trips.

1. Kinesthetic learners (people who learn best by doing things) can absorb information and relate to it better by actually experiencing a certain environment.

2. Field trips keep kids excited to be in class and give them an incentive to focus and do good work so their teachers will want to take them.

3. Field trips can give background information or reinforce material that students already learned, and increase their interest in the topic.

Part II – I don’t know what field trips you have been on. My English class in high school went to Walden pond when we were reading Thoreau. It was cool to be in a place where an author wrote while reading his book.

At work they send us on field trips a few times per year. It’s to see first hand how new technology is being implemented. Then if something goes wrong we have a good understanding of the possible causes of the problem. This cuts down the troubleshooting time.

Field trips show children how to apply what they’ve learned in school to a real world experience. They also take children to places they have never been- I previously lived in ma. around an hour away from Boston and that was one eighth grade Field trip, going to Boston. I remember being on the bus there and my friend talking about how she had never been in Boston before, I was astounded.

The main reason schools have field trips is to teach the students the important things that are on the outside of those school walls. And they teach us about nature. Science and other things. the importances of life.

Community-based learning experiences provide real life experiences where students can apply and analyze what they have learned first hand. They have to be well designed for your students. I worked with wonderful students who were in an urban setting who had come from low-income communities. We were working on math objectives that dealt with graphing. We were learning when to use bar graphs, line graphs, and bar graphs. So we visited new homes that were being built, mobile home dealers, and so forth. We collected data on what amenities were available, costs, and so forth. Then we decided the best way to represent the data using a graph type. This ended up sparking wonderful discussions about the types of homes they wanted to live in and what types of occupations it might take to obtain those types of homes. As well, they were able to use the information in a project that the guidance department worked through with them.

Field trips are the BEST thing that kids look forward to. They get to “get away” from their classroom, and enjoy the outdoors to begin with.

Then it’s off to see things that their parents won’t typically take them.

It makes a child feel like their in a whole different world of experience!

I loved them growing up.
