UTI is a for-profit trade school. Community College is usually cheaper. Don’t make the mistake of thinking you will learn everything about mechanics there. Auto Mechanics is a four-year apprenticeship. What you learn at schools like UTI is “pre-apprenticeship” to get you prepared for an apprenticeship. ADDED UTI’s answer is actually pretty good, and lacks the ridiculous puffery associated with other trade schools such as “Full Sail University.” So long as students realize UTI is vocational, not academic, and somewhat expensive, they can be assured of getting a decent start in the trades by attending UTI. I wish UTI would stress (pre)apprenticeship rather than ASE Certs, which are much less prestigious. How many UTI teachers have journetman papers in Auto Mechanics?
