People have different learning styles. You need to find yours. For example, I learn best by doing. I am a visual person.

I can read it but I must have visual stimulus to aid in my learning. For example, you can give me a book on how to write computer applications, but I cannot learn how to write them by just reading about it, I must have my hands on the keyboard and do as I read.

Some people can learn best by just reading. They read it and understand it and apply it.

There are four different learning styles. Do some research on the net to find out what they are.

After you find your learning style, consider your environment. My daughter needs her tunes turned up, her door closed and no one to talk to her to do her homework. She is a ‘A’ student.

When I am doing my homework, I need my tunes, don’t talk to me, indirect lighting and a candle burning. I am also an ‘A’ student. I am 51 years old. It is never to old to learn.

So find your learning style, create your ideal environment and there you have it.

Did you learn anything? I hope so. Let me know if this was helpful, or not.

Everyone has different techniques to memorizing and studying. Index cards work for many. Put the word on one side, the definition on the other. Copying the sentence several times helps others. You can also try reading it to yourself and test yourself, or get someone else to test it for you. Not all these ways may work for you, as I said before. Everyone has different tastes for studying. Just remember to use convenient and important sources like your textbook and class notes!

The one good way is to research anything you would like to learn about, that means read and study.

Paying attention in your class. Making notes and reading the chapter to outline what you covered during lecture. Asking questions when you are in doubt. Remember there is no dumb question. Seek help in time, or else you will stay behind and will be asking the same question in 5 years again.
