i would say both! but why dont u get a pen/pencil..one side pen and the other pencil?

Buy a selection of both. If you’re past primary school, then it’s good to have pencils for maths and write in pen for all other subjects.

both because youll need both, but if you have to choose i wood pick mechanical pencils they always have worked for me!
ps i barely ever use pens except for projects and i usually just type them instead
