You will be fine!
Your teachers in elementary school always make going into the 6th grade such a big deal!!
AND, they will make it seem like a huge deal when you go into high school too!!
My advice- Wear simple jewlery. Your young, and I think too much looks gaudy! Wear cute things like stud earings(i like rhinestones)…….or heart neclaces! or just simple beads!
THE LOCKER—you can put up wrapping paper….something with a cute print on it!!! Or all I did when I was in high school was get a couple of cute fuzzy magnets at Ofice Max or Depot, and put up cute pictures of you and your friends! You could also go to Target or Walmart (they have cute locker things too)! You could get extra shelves for your books too! Its also nice to keep a little makeup carrier or some sort to keep extra lipgloss or lotion, and even feminie products! Believe me…..it comes in handy!!
Okay….the homework!! It shouldnt always take you TWO hours every night! Sometimes your teachers will give you extra time at the end of class to do some, and it comes in handy! Sometimes your homework might take longer…..if you have an extra project, or if you get stuck on something! But, that wasn’t too hard to get used too!
The Yearbook Club- I think it was a good descion that you joined this!! I wish I could have when I was in middle school! I joined it in high school, and everybody already knew what was going on, and I was sort of “out of the loop”, so I ended quitting. PLUS, I was on the cheerleading team, and it did take up a lot of time! However, I think it would be a great thing to add to your resume someday, and it will make you feel as if you are a part of something!
Another tip- stay organized! Maybe you should keep a planner, and write down all of your homework things to do….then, when you get home you will never forget anything!!!!
GOOD LUCK….and HAVE FUN!!
I think you’ll do fine this school year just be yourself be realistic you know what your capable of and what you not!!
HOPE FOR THE BEST AND I HOPE THIS HELPS!!!! : )
Don’t wear too much, though…gotta’ save some for later!
If I were you, I wouldn’t decorate my locker at all until I knew a theme from something I liked a lot; a boy maybe, or a movie or even a song (that can call for fun imagination). Without telling it around, you could even decorate the locker to reflect the part of summer past you liked the most: a trip, picnic, the beach, valley or mountains, a pet.
You’ll survive homework. You already have better writing skills than a lot of Y!A people! It will take differing lengths of time (the homework, I mean), and soon you’ll be able to judge.
It was good to sign up for yearbook; first of all it will be fun, + then because you’ll see that more learning skills are found in that group, like lay-out and editing and photography, not to mention writing. And more friends.
It won’t take too long to do, until perhaps the deadline…then it may take time, if you got lax before!
“Yearbook” is also good for ‘them’ to see if you’re going to a college.
This is a time for self-discovery and making your image. Always be aware of the image and message you are projecting. Your accessories should reflect your personality; if your a bit on the wild side, try some bold colors or interesting shapes; if your a little bit shyer, try small studs. Your locker should reflect your personality, and it’s a great place to show off your decorating creativity. Choose a theme of things that you like. Maybe it’s animals? A certain musical group? Your family, maybe. Try to avoid stickers and paint because they’re really hard to get off when it comes time to forefit the locker at the end of the year. One good idea for your locker is a magnetic mirror so you can look your self in the eyes everyday, reminding yourself just how wonderful and unique you are. Plus it’s great for between-class touch-ups, too!
The yearbook club sounds like it will be lots of fun! It will have all kinds of opportunities to make new friends and learn new and applicable things. Again, the key here it to be organized and prepared! Always pay attention in class and keep neat notes so you can look over them easily at home. There’s nothing more discouraging about homework that struggling to read what it says.
As for doing the homework itself, it should only take about 1/2 an hour every night for the review portion and about 1/2 an hour for the active studying and reading ahead portion. When it comes time for the tests (there will be a lot of them, trust me) do the same routine, 1/2 hour review and 1/2 hour active studying, but this time, just do it for that one subject. “Active studying” can be done by using cue cards, or maybe an activity involving the material you’re learning like a game or a play. Another helpful hint is to color-code everything, for example: english = red stickers, math = yellow stickers, music = purple stickers, etc. Homework doesn’t have to bogg you down and it can even be enjoyable. Of course there will be subjects that you don’t like, or teachers that you dont’ get along with, but sometimes, that’s life and you just have to keep pushing through. As for the yearbook club getting in the way of homework, you shouldn’t have any problems. Adding extra curricular activities is sometimes the only way to get through school. Once you get into the swing of things, try out other school activities like variety shows, band or choir, or anything at all that they offer at your school.
Grade 6 is a memorable time in anyone’s life, and you’re lucky to be going through it. Good luck!!!!
umm homework probablly takes like a hour to like a hour and a half it depends on the teacher and subject
no it shudnt add pressure to you ..i hope you are a determined person that likes school and you should stay on track if school is too much work for you you shouldnt be in a club to tell the truth
im sure you can handle it
you can decorate your locker by putting a mirror
ha lol
umm..or put post- its and extra penss and stuff
like a lil container they have at wal-mart that you can put supplies in and its pretty cheap you just like stick it on there
um for jewelery dont go too much on it cuz your just in the 6th grade i mean its not like your that old to worry abou tit too much

Also, to add a personal touch to your locker, take a ton of photos and have them developed and then go to Michaels craft store (if you have one near you). Measure the shape of the inside of your locker and get card board colored paper (make sure it’s fairly thick) and cut it to the size of your locker.
While at Michael’s get Mod Podge adhesive glue and glue down cut out pictures of you and your friends or magazine cut outs. After they are glued down, paint a layer of Mod Podge over the top of everything and let it dry. This will seal the project and it will look really nice. I have done this type of thing for years. It will make your locker look awesome if you hang up a project like this. It something you can do with some friends so all your lockers will have that personal touch.

Homework will not be too bad I promise. I remember having several large projects in sixth grade, and I spent a good amount of time on those. But for every day type homework, I would spend about 20 minutes on math and about 15 minutes on other things.
I had a blast in year-book. I met a lot of fun people and it’s a great way to see all the things available in your school. All the clubs, what their like etc. It can help you figure out what you might like to do next year after seeing all that is out there and who does what.
Yearbook won’t add any extra pressure to homework, it’s just a lot of fun.
The year book club is when you take photos to go in the year book or bring in photos and you have to design it Inside, and Out! Well most people like a mirror, white board for reminders, and mini organizers like pencil, cup, stapler holders! STICKERS are really bad ideas!!! Try to get like fake grass or if you have things sticking out on the inside of your locker like a screw or something try to hang something up on it! And homework takes about 2-3 hours and you WILL GET STACKS!!! So do it right once you get home and get it over with! And if you go to Private (PREP) school you get a WHOLE LOT MORE which brings you to 5 hours + math flash, and reading! And they do not allow Locker decor!
