Christopher Columbus did not discover America, when arrived here Native American had already cultivated the land, were already living here. But sometimes in history people like to credit him for having discovered America. Completely not true.

It wasn’t really any of the above.

To have been a real “discovery”, he would have had to have had some inkling of what it was that he had found. He didn’t have a clue where he was, and didn’t have the slightest notion of the size of what he had found.

It wasn’t an invasion, because he not only did not remain, he never had the intention of doing so. It might well have been “trespassing”, but it fell far short of “invasion”.

It also wasn’t a conquest, since he exerted no more dominion and control over the hemisphere when he began the return trip than he had when he started out.

I mean no disrespect to the event, but it was mere exploration, it wasn’t any of the terms you suggested.

** “Columbus came and killed all the indians”??? If that’s true, then was Custer’s Last Stand a myth? And who the heck is running the casinos on the East Coast, elves?

What about Amerigo Vespuci? I thought he was the first to actually “discover” the land… later using his namesake to declare the land as America. In any case, whomever you choose to credit the discovery to, it was simply a case of exploration. Niether explorer invaded or conqured the land or its inhabitants once making their discovery. I believe the event of invading and conquering was initiated with the Jamestown, VA landing/colonization. Being followed later by the Pilgrims at Plymouth Rock.

To discover means to find something that hasnt been found. But you cand find a place that people are living on. You absolutely postively can not. You can visit or find , you can even conquer but you can not discover something thats already been discovered by its inhabitants. Im sorry…I get angery when talking about Christopher and his wrong doings.

The land we cal”united states of america” grow to be constantly here. Columbus grow to be in basic terms one in each and every of a team of persons claiming to”come across” it. Alot of communities additionally”invaded” it. there grow to be no genuine team who “owned “united states of america, earlier Columbus claimed it for Spain.
