Job Corps?
If so, How was your experience? Do you think it was worth going to?
Favorite Answer
Each job corps site is different, and you have only some (not all) imput in which site you attend. Different sites have different programs, so if you want to study culinary arts, computer technology, nursing, or other trades, that will influence which site you attend.
The thing about Job Corps you need to know is that it is a live-in program (for the most part), so you have to live by the rules of the site. Generally you have to wear a uniform, your days are scheduled for you, and freedom is limited. If you have been living on your own for a while, this can be a BIG adjustment. And you have to go into the program with a good attitude. If you go to Job Corps serious about getting your diploma/GED, and stay focused on your goals, it can be a good program.
Some of the people who go to Job Corps do not have a good attitude, and they will try to cause problems for everyone- starting drama, distracting you and the instructors, et cetera. You will have to learn to ignore them and keep working towards your goals- which is an incredible skill because you will encounter these types of people all your life.
Job Corps can be a great program, but do your research first to make sure it is the right fit for what you want.
