Is this a correct use of a semi-colon?

“I love the city; the lights, the noise, the strangers. It makes me feel like I am never alone.”

Are you allowed to list after a semi-colon? or is it just for a full statement (noun-verb) that connects with the former statement? How would I re-word that if it isnt correct? Thanks!

That use is incorrect. Semi-colons either separate items in a list or separate two independent clauses. Just use a colon instead for your sentence.

I am pretty sure that you should only use a semi-colon when you are combining 2 parts and each could be a separate sentence on their own.

So, the sentence could be:

I love the city; I feel like I am never alone due to the lights, the noise, and the strangers.

instead of the semi-colon, use a colon or hyphen.
