if you’re an eye witness to a murder for example you saw it happen but if you were just a witness you might have heard noises or gunshots or something and can offer information to the police… i hope this helps 🙂

. I suppose an EYE-wtness has to SEE something. A witness could have just heard , smelled ,whatever, something.
Like in 9/11, most New Yorkers didn’t SEE the first plane hit the North Tower, so technically they weren’t EYEwitness to that particualr event.
