Other than if the name is Asian, how would they know? It’s not like you have to mark your ethnic, religious, cutural, etc persuasion anymore.

Nope!
UC School system and ALL university in the US DO NOT judge students based om race, skin color, religion etc. So Berkeley cannot do that.
Additionally, many Asians today uses English/American names so it would be very hard for them to tell.
