Is it legal to take review/exercise questions from school textbooks and publish/sell the answers/solutions?

I have fun creating my own answer keys to the exercises found at the end of each chapter of my textbooks. I just want to know if it is OK if I also make some money from this. I will not just sell it, but rather use it while tutoring my co-students for a fee. As far as I know this is already happening in many universities but I just want to get other people’s opinion.

You are unnecessarily worrying. A publishing company s very likely not going to sue you. You are not in my opinion (I am not an attorney) doing anything illegal.

As a matter of fact you should be complimented for using you ingenuity in tutoring students, You should consider becoming a teacher. You also seem to be a very bright girl who can think for yourself. Do not be discouraged and do not be concerned with things that will not occur.

i think it is called plagiarism. however, if you reworded questions and wrote the answers this might be ok. but you could get sued for copyright infringement and i think copyright laws are enforced by the FBI. if you are just using it for tutoring and the fee you are charging is for tutoring and you are not making copies but requiring your students to write notes then that is different.

I’m not sure about the answers, but as long as you just use them and charge money for the teachings and not answers, it seems legit.
