During my senior year of high school, I worked full time. It sucked, but I had no choice. I had to save up money for college. I wouldn’t recommend working 40 hours a week, but a part-time job is a great way to earn responsibility. You can work 6 hours on the each weekend, and then one or two days per week (most grocery stores will set it up this way). I started out working Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and one day during the week. It’s easy to manage your work. Look for somewhere close to home so traveling won’t be an issue. Good luck and don’t overdo it! You just need a little spending money.

Going to high school is important for a teenager.

If your part time job is gives you only 10-12 hours then yoor fine. If your boss wants you to work more hours, DON’T!

Your education is far more important then a part time job that won’t get you anywhere in the long run.

If your boss gets upset , demands to know why you can’t stay behind, tries to pressure you into staying behind, then don’t stay behind! Gives you dirty looks, gives you the evil eye, has a nasty tone of voice, yells, screams, slams things, cusses, etc.then quit! That’s aggression and no one has a right to force you to do anything you don’t want to and can’t.

Quit! If that’s how your boss is quit!

The only reason why bosses want to give extra hours, more hours to high school students is because they are cheap!

A part time minimum wage worker who makes $7.00 is much cheaper than a part time worker who makes $10.50.

Part time workers who makes cheap wages save company money. They don’t care about you! All they care about is running their businesses perfectly at cheap wages, saving lots of money. Watch Fast Food Nation and you will see what I’m talking about!

Presuming that you are the teenager in question, here is the very best advice: try it on; see if it fits. You will then be in the best position to know whether it is good for you or not.

If it is good for you, you will naturally choose to do more of it. If the fit is not good–does not fit into your goal of achieving this or doing that–then it’s not.

Know this: a good education will never, ever fail you because it is you. A job is something you do.

Make the best choice.

God bless.

Yes, as long as you have balance and time to do the things that you want to do. You need time to exercise and do school work. A part-time job is great though for being able to afford the things your parents won’t buy you and also saving up for things long-term like a car or something.

It is always a good idea to learn how to balance real life with school. Most people have to do it while they are in college. Plus it helps you learn responsibility. Just make sure that you don’t let your grade slip while you are doing it. As much as it will help you for the future. High school only happens once so don’t forget to live. Work will be there forever..

It’s a very good thing to do, just so long as it doesn’t interfere too much with grades or your social life. Despite what you may hear, your social life now is probably more important, but then again, depending on what your job is, it might even offer a way to expand your social life.

Yes. It will provide you with a little extra cash and teach you how to be responsible. I would work in the morning on the weekends and when I get off, hang out with friends. Just make sure you put your homework first.

It can be good if you can manage your time correctly. Just make sure you have time off to do your homework and normal teenager things.

I would think so, if neither affects the other negatively. It also depends on the type of job that it is.Ultimately it must be for the child’s overall benefit.
