You need an MS in counseling, 60 credits usually. Duties may include working in a school with special ed kids, helping them socialize, running therapy groups, helping kids get into college and fill out their applications, counseling suicidal or at risk teens. You can also set up a private practice and work with clients on your own. Pros: you help a lot of kids and do meaningful work, and the kids are fun to be around. You may never work 9-5 again. Cons: you won’t get rich and sometimes the job will be really depressing.

Salary depends on where you live, check the local public school system for a good baseline idea.

Sophistication is over-rated.
Responsibilities… I’ve been to these people and it seems like they don’t have any. But, I suggest that you start being soft. If you’ve first met your patient, don’t ask questions like, “How do you feel?” or say things like “I am very trustworthy and will never say anything that you don’t want me to say to your parents”. That would be a lie. When you have the first patient, Start with something that will make Therapy fun. Like a survey that’s on paper.

If they’re the ones who are homicidal or a rebel, Don’t speak soft. And yet, don’t yell either. Don’t try to make them scared of you. Don’t try to make them see the reality. After a few days they’ll come to you instead of you come to them.
