I think I want to go to college?

I work for an Attorney right now, receptionist, and I don’t enjoy it that much! I know I could become his paralegal if I applied myself…never wanted to be one though?! So, I am not to sure on what I would major in…but kind of would like to start, ya know! I graduated 3 years ago and haven’t been yet!

What do you think???

Would love some advice on how to get started…or even if I should??

thank you!!

Good for you! When you start college, you don’t need to know exactly what you want to major in. Since you don’t think you’d actually like to be a paralegal, that’s good–at least you know what you don’t want. What DO you want? Go find out! Go to your local junior college and take lots of different courses. Take classes that sound interesting. Take at least one totally weird class–beekeeping or something. The way to be happy in your career is to do what you love, and one of the best ways to figure out what you love is to try lots of different things. Go to school with the idea that you are doing a kind of self-exploration–this is a great chance to learn and grow in ways you may never have expected. Happy learning!

Many colleges have a career center where you can review course requirements. Also, you’ll probably have to take a few “basic” classes – like English writing, math, history, science. I went for a Bachelor of Arts, but ended up with an Associate of Arts (2 years) because I really didn’t know exactly what I wanted to do. I switched over to office administration (basically, secretary), and ended up with a degree in Paralegal. My current job entails a little bit of both.

First you would need to see what schools are close to you, check out the financial aid department, and also the career center. Once you decide on some type of career, you’ll get assigned a counselor who will guide you through the courses to be taken.

Another way is to find out is to read books on choosing a career. Some books might have a quiz for you to take which will show your interests and strengths.

Never stop learning. Always be prepared for something new.
