Best of luck! 🙂
There is no magic age that one reaches that one must be doing whatever for the rest of their lives—so don’t panic. 25 is still young and I certainly didn’t like most anything I did then either LOL!
You’re creative—and I’m not sure why you don’t like the corporate world but I can tell you why I don’t like it. I don’t like it because I’m too creative and independent and more importantly believe in people and not numbers and politics. Being plastic and corporate is not for me and the game gets tired quickly.
Bottom line, you only get somewhere in the corporate world by luck. You get lucky to have the right boss at the right time to give you the right job that will result in your success. Any variations of this will result in less than ideal results and nothing more than an annual raise, the occasional bonus, a regular check and the occasional lateral move.
As a creative person, I tend to work in spurts. I do indeed work very, very hard—and I’m a perfectionist, but I almost have to be in the mood to get started. Not good when you have repetitive tasks to complete.
I worked as a ‘temp and/or contract” worker for many years in all kinds of workplaces and business lines. I saw lots of stuff and disliked most of it because I found it unchallenging and boring. I did learn that I’m happiest and most effective as a people leader in the “corporate world” and I’m able to balance this with my many creative and crafty business sidelines :o)
In a perfect world, I would be running my own business doing something “creative” rather than traditional.
You may be surprised to know that most of the worlds’ most successful business leaders are ‘creative” people and not numbers oriented. They’re the ones taking the risks and trailblazing new ideas and concepts…it may be something to think about for you.
I think the only way to know what you like is by throwing yourself out there and trying different things. You’ll find your niche eventually
