I slacked my freshman year, can I raise my gpa up? How does the gpa system work?

I kinda slacked off my freshman year and my end-of-year gpa was 3.14 (we grade on a 4.0). I really want to raise my gpa up to at least 3.3 by the end of first semester; is this possilbe? We got a 3 week report last week and my current gpa is 3.2 ( I have all A’s). How do I bring it up at least one more point? Also, how does that system work? What determinds how my gpa fluctuates? Thanks!!

One more point or one more tenth of a point? This is a difficult situation to answer because I do not know what your grading scale is. But usually:

A=4

B=3

C=2

D=1

F=0

Then you would add the total points for all of your grades and divide by the classes that you had (unless you are in college, then you need to use credit hours to multiply by and then divide, etc)

Keep in mind, usually the more classes you have under your belt, the more difficult it is to bring up your GPA. So, if this is your sophomore year, you have to do the best that you can to get all of your As (worth 4.0). Then, the same each of the following years.

Yes you can still raise it but when it lowers it causes some damage and means you have to work that much harder to get it raised and keep it up

I’m not sure how to precisely explain it, but I put a link in sources that will help you. It shows you how to calculate your GPA.
