I really need to make this a habit?

Every day i want to practice writing jokes for an hour (because i want to do stand-up comedy), i want to practice acting for an hour, and practice singing for an hour.

But the problem is that no matter what i try i can’t seen to make it into a habit and then i end up not doing it at all. Help.

Try to set more realistic goals. You are wanting to spend a total of 3 hours a day writing jokes, practicing acting, and practicing singing. That is totally unrealistic for most people as they have other obligations with school, work, and extra curricular activities.

Start small – As far as the joke writing goes, try writing 3 good jokes per week. It may not seem like much, but if you keep it up, you will have 156 jokes by this time next year!!! Providing you told around 4 jokes per minute, you would have over 30 minutes of jokes you could tell to an audience. For most comedians, it takes many years before they can perform 30 minutes of good stand up comedy.

As far as the acting and singing goes, get involved with the drama club and chorus at your school. Community colleges in your area may have acting opportunities as well. With acting and singing, it’s better if you’re with a group, that way you can learn from each other, and give each other feedback.

How about trying to concentrate on only one thing each day. That way it’s not so easy to get distracted.
