I am a retired educator, I retired early. I am considering being a nanny. Is this a good choice?

What skill would I need that I would not have from being a mother and elementary educator? Do Nanny recruiting companies really help? What is the best way to find such a position?

I think this is an excellenct choice! Imagine the amount of advanced teaching that you can do for the young ones. Your elementary educator would qualify you for this task.

There are several companies that do nanny staffing – most are listed in the children’s magazines. Good luck

I think that being a nanny would be a great option for you. The nanny recruiting agencies are not all they’re cracked up to be – many of them tell you that you’re “top-notch”, and then do NOTHING to get you a placement. In my experience, the best places to find a job are some of the online placement services. I’ll give you a few of the more common and used ones, if you do a simple google search though, you’ll get plenty more.

I don’t know much about Nanny’s, but I would imagine that you would be under the control of the parents as to hours, duties, travels, etc. With your credentials, I would think that tutoring would be a good alternative. God knows, there is a great need for tutors. And you would have more control over your life.

P.S. If you were an English teacher, please do not proof read this, red line it, and give me a grade!!!!!!! Good Luck
