i am a teenager, and have friends that r all teenagers, and are all ” yea i am too cool for that” So i know what your thinking of. to get them interested, look into things that re going to benefit them, or something they can look baack and be like ” Cool i actually did something right,

For our highschool, we took a day for only charity, we went to local food drive and helped serve and make it for the homless.

The teachers gave us extra credit on our lowest grade on a test, if we commited to not eating for a whole day. 24hrs. In a way to grow awareness of those who have no food. We raised money for evecry hour we didnt eat, and it went back to the disaster in darfur. The next few days, we as a whole school watched documentries on the geniside, and homeless in america.

I was so touched, i went throught th whole thing, and we are doing it next year!!

Good luck, hope this gave you a few ideas..

p.s try relating things that have some familarity to them. Like cell phones, and clothes, starbuck, etc. it just mght grab their attention!

it used to look good on resumes and applications for college. unfortunately a lot of people started lying about their volunteer work so all the sudden everyone spent the summer building mud huts in africa. if you do actual charity work make sure you get contact information from someone where you volunteered.

if someone isn’t interested in something then their mind is probably made up and you can’t do much to change it. i usually take very macromanagerial group think approaches to attempting to change peoples minds. if you get groups instead of individuals its often easier to influence people — when you sway one person the idea catches on with the group. this doesn’t work with all personalities though.
