I think it makes the most sense for kids to have a cell phone once they start going out on their own. Or when they start driving. That way, they can always reach someone if they have car trouble or something. Any younger than that, and kids with cell phones just don’t make sense to me. If they really need one or you really want them to have one, they could borrow yours.

now that im divorced that has changed! i have 2 kids both in sports, 1 of them is a teenager i just cant think what my life would be like if i could not be in contact with them whenever i need to know they are ok, or when i need to go pick the m up etc etc. its just a neccesity now a days. i think each kid should have 1 you just need to show them how and where to keep it and explain to them how important it is for them to take care of it. around 8 i think its a good age depending on how mature they are.
