You never master a subject you just grow wiser and mature in the subject for you will read the same thing and always learn something new every time

it depends on the craft and your ability..

for example some people can be music masters within a year.. where others will take 20 years of practice ot acheive the same standard putting in the same relative time of practice..

Generally speaking though, if its something you are learning new, and you have average starting ability .. then you can expect to be a master in no less than 15 years really. it takes THAT long including study time of around 7 years and 8 years of semi study and hardcore experience.

you can be very very good at something after only 5 years.. but you cannot possibly be a masterwithout at least 7 years work experience or hands on expeirience..

To really master a subject? That all depends, it depends on how quick of a learner you are and how well you follow guides and text. Also it depends on what subject it is your trying to master.
