Most stay in school until age 18, but you can get your GED after completing grade 8, usually at age 14. That is as long as you must stay in school.

It’s not so much the number of years, but the amount of days in any given year they are NOT in school because of all the darn breaks they get. Consequently it is little surprise to me that they are leaving school, usually at 18, many of them as ignorant as a bucket of rocks.

On top of this – and in all fairness, Britain is just as bad – Society these days prevents the exercise of any effective discipline in schools, and as a result the teachers have no authority or control over the behaviour. Even when they are in class, a lot of the kids are not applying themselves, and actually learning anything, and the way the laws are these days, there seems to be nothing anyone can do about it.

You have to go through 12th grade which ends at 17, 18 or 19 years of age depending on when you start school in order to receive a high school diploma. Some kids do quit school before graduating with a diploma.

you start school when you are 5 or 6 and you end school when you are 17 or 18. You have to stay that long.

13 years required.

Kindergarden, then 1st through 12th grade. (roughly age 5 to start, then roughly age 17 or 18 when you complete.)

Then you can choose to go to college if you want.

Almost any financially disadvantaged person can still get some form of college education through funding of student loans, grants, scholarships, etc.

I suppose it also depends on every persons individual “situation” too.
