how many stamps do i put on a letter?
Favorite Answer
The value of the stamps is just as important as the number of stamps also. Stamps come in all kinds of values: 1 cent, 5 cents, 41 cents, 75 cents, etc…
You can always go to www.USPS.com and look up the letter and pkg guidelines so that your mail wont be returned.
GOOD LUCK!
Letters cost different amounts – depending on how heavy they are – where their going – whether they are normal or express – whether surface mail or airmail.
If you do not know how much the stamps to put on are – go to your post office and they will tell you and sell you the stamp(s) – which may be one , two, three or more to make up the correct value for your letter.

If your letter is heavier than normal, have it weighed at the post office or a mail store to see how much postage you need on it.
In the US postage is 41 cents, PER OUNCE.
Using an old 39 cent stamp, a two cent stamp must be added.
Any more than that is overpaying.
An ordinary letter is less than an ounce. If weight is added, it must be weighed.
