Many jobs today require at least a high school diploma. This is because a high school diploma requires certain skills that are also basic skills required by most jobs. Attendance, social skills, and an ability to complete tasks are some of these basic skills. However, many people face situations in their life that get in the way of completing high school. This should not keep you from getting your high school diploma because there are a lot of options for people who have not completed high school.

Acquiring a high school diploma or it’s equivalent is required in order to qualify for many positions. For example, the U.S. military forces have that requirement. Many civilian employers will not even accept applications from people who have not finished high school. There are lots of jobs available, however, for people who know how to do something well, even without the diploma. If you really know how to lay bricks, fix machinery, cook, shoe horses, fell timber, write computer programs or many other skills, and you have a year or two of experience at doing the work, you can get a job. It is best, however, to finish school and then earn the appropriate qualifications to get the job you want.
