Good question, to me environment means everything. I can not study at home I have to go to the library, inter net cafe or coffee house, etc.

Secondly if its a standardized test at all major book stores they have study guides with the CD Rom in the back.

I take a lot of notes, for some reason if I write it and re-read it Iam more likely to remember. Just before the exam I go over my own notes.

Take the practice exam at the end of each chapter.

Pray for knowledge, wisdom, understanding, and the ability to recall before each exam.

God Bless.

I agree with #2 that environment is everything. Assemble all your needs before you start; notebook, pens, pencils, etc. Even a coke if you want. It’s disruptive to have to get up and get the dictionary or thesaurus in the middle of a thought. Like mentioned already that ‘writing’ the notes and ‘reading’ your own notes helps allot. You retain more memory than you think. Use the ‘association rule’ if it will help in your situation. If you can’t remember a date or a name… associate it with something meaningful or even funny to you. And regardless of popular opinion… eliminate excess noise. You may think you can study well with your favorite CD blaring unrecognizable decibels in your ears along with the TV on and chatting with your friends… you CAN’T. Establishing good study habits is the first hurdle. Once you get the hang of it and it becomes 2nd nature to you, you’ll be surprised at the ease and the rewards of those great grades!
